Step two of the purify hygiene concept for aviation: surface disinfectant & cleaning

The second wave of COVID-19 is here, but aviation cannot survive more months of grounded flights. We need to implement comprehensive safety procedures to reassure passengers and governments that it is safe to fly. Fortunately, this time we are prepared.

A revolutionary new hygiene concept – purify from aviationscouts – allows us to do that. Purify is a four-step process that ensures passengers and crew arrive and depart safely.

Step 1 spreads disinfecting fog around airports and aircraft, which continues to actively disinfect for more than 10 days between treatments.

Step 2 applies the same anti-infective and aviation approved solution topically, treating the most common areas of infection, such as stair hand-rails, elevator buttons and lavatories, for extra hygiene protection.

Step 3 is a hand-disinfection station providing passengers with more than two hours’ protection, and may can be safely reapplied again and again, from arrival at the airport, through check-in, getting to the aircraft, and the flight itself.

Step 4 involves personal protective equipment for passengers and crew which can be branded for ancillary revenue.

Let’s address step two in detail. It involves an aviation approved disinfection and cleaning concentrate that can be diluted and sprayed or is available in ready-to-use spray bottles or wipes.

This makes it ideal for topical areas, such as washrooms and toilets.

A conventional disinfection solution is alcohol-based and evaporates soon after use leaving the surface open to reinfection within minutes. Purify’s disinfectant is different. It is water-based and on drying leaves a sponge-like gel on the surface embedded with powerful biocides that continue to kill micro-organisms for up to 10 days after application.

The solution also prevents micro-organisms from attaching to it, further avoiding reinfection.

Continued use of the disinfectant builds up a nano-thin layer that increases that non-stick barrier layer even more.

"Disinfecting a surface is easy. Keeping it disinfected is more difficult," says aviationscouts CEO, Thomas Bulirsch. "As soon as you have cleaned a surface it can easily become reinfected by microorganisms floating in the air."

"Our German-made and industry-leading disinfectant ensures that even after treatment, surfaces will stay hygienic for days afterwards. This not only keeps people safe, it also reassures governments that airports and aircraft are safe to continue operating."
