E-Invoicing Compliance – from Obligation to Strategic Opportunity
Since 1 January 2025, all German companies have been required to be able to receive electronic invoices. By 2028, the full e-invoicing mandate will apply to the issuing and sending of invoices in accordance with the EN 16931 standard. These national regulations – in Germany, France (2026/2027) and Italy (since 2019) – are not isolated measures: they are deliberately preparing companies for the next stage. From 2030, the EU’s ViDA initiative will require all companies to report cross-border B2B transactions in real time. E-invoicing compliance will thus become the mandatory foundation of the European VAT reporting system – and a strategic necessity for every internationally active company.
