AMS 5935 – Compact and versatile board-mount pressure sensor series for pressure ranges up to 12 bar

Analog Microelectronics GmbH expands its AMS 5935 pressure sensor series with new variants for differential and gage pressure ranges between 2 and 12 bar. This expansion specifically addresses the continuously growing demand for a reliable inlet pressure monitoring in medical gas systems and precise compressed air monitoring in industrial pneumatic applications.

The new variants of the AMS 5935 board-mount pressure sensor are often used in industrial pneumatic systems and medical instrumentation.
In automated production lines and pneumatic systems, the new measurement ranges allow seamless monitoring of compressed air networks. Thus, the AMS 5935 allows an early detection of pressure drops or leaks, making a key contribution to energy efficiency and operational reliability.
In central medical gas supply systems of hospitals and nursing facilities as well as in ventilation and anesthesia systems the AMS 5935 monitors the inlet pressure of gases such as medical oxygen, compressed air or nitrous oxide. The sensor ensures maximum accuracy and a reliable data transfer through its I2C or SPI interface for an uninterrupted supply of the downstream ventilation or anesthesia systems.

The AMS 5935 board-mount pressure sensor has 18 bit resolution, an I2C or SPI output and a high accuracy (< 0.1 %FSO for pressure sensors with pressure ranges > 1 bar) as well as a low total error band across the compensated temperature range from -25 to 85 °C (< 0.25 %FSO). The AMS 5935 has a robust ceramic DIL-8 package (2.54 mm pitch) with metal pressure ports. If its I2C interface is used, it is pin compatible with AMS 5915. The supply voltage of AMS 5935 ranges from 1.7 to 3.6 V at a current consumption of 2 mA in active mode and 250 nA in sleep mode.

The new variants of the AMS 5935 pressure sensor series for pressure ranges up to 12 bar are now available from Analog Microelectronics GmbH or via distribution partners. To simplify prototype tests Analog Microelectronics offers a starter kit that also allows users to change the sensor’s I2C address, enabling multiple AMS 5935 sensors to operate on the same I2C bus.
