The clamping hub of the KM is equipped with the innovative easy-clamp system, which allows it to be pushed on easily with sufficient clearance. The preload force required for torque transmission is ensured by a single, radially accessible screw per hub. This simple and reliable connection allows uncomplicated installation with just a few movements, even in cramped conditions. In order to achieve the lowest possible moment of inertia, the hubs are made of high-strength aluminum.

The bellows and hub are connected using the backlash-free flanged press-fit process. In contrast to glued joints, this joining method has unlimited fatigue strength under critical operating conditions (-40°C to +200°C, chemicals, etc.) and can safely introduce the transmission torque of each bellows layer into the hub.

Metal bellows couplings of the KM series are available with nominal torques from 0.4 to 1300Nm.

A modern micro-plasma welding process is used to create secure and permanent connections between metal bellows and stainless steel or steel hubs with reproducible quality. The welded connection meets the highest requirements, especially with regard to absolute freedom from play, high concentricity and maximum torsional rigidity.

In contrast to adhesive bonds, it is absolutely and indefinitely durable even under critical operating conditions (-50 to +300°C, chemicals).

The power clamping screw SC contains a special inner workings, which acts as a mechanical power amplifier. This results in particularly high clamping forces at comparatively low torques and the greatest possible operational reliability. The self-locking wedge clamping system in every position offers a clamping stroke of up to 3 mm.

In addition to the proven sizes of M36, M48, M64 and M80, JAKOB also offers a special version SC 100. It can generate clamping forces of up to 250 Nm with just 130 Nm of torque. The power clamping screw is operated with a 14 mm Allen key. For safety’s sake, and in order to obtain reproducible values, the operation is best done with a torque wrench.

Special versions are possible on request at any time.

A key design feature of the MDR clamping nut is a special crown gear with right-angled deflection of the rotation to multiply the tightening torque. The clamping force is built up safely and in a controlled manner in proportion to the tightening torque. This ensures high clamping forces with maximum operational safety with the simplest manual operation. With the thread size M30, for example, the heavy SW46 key that is usually required is replaced by the SW14 operating hexagon, making work much more convenient.

In connection with variable-length T-slot screws or clamping bolts, the through-thread enables a very flexible application with different clamping heights or tool thicknesses. In addition to the robust material design, the compact dimensions and especially the very low overall height are to be emphasized. This also enables use in extremely cramped installation conditions. The MDR clamping nut is maintenance-free under normal operating conditions and can be used in a special version up to 400°C.

Two sizes are available with a nominal clamping force of 120 kN or 150 kN and thread sizes from M16 to M42.

The JAKOB-developed and long-time patented joining process (crimping-in-press process), on the other hand, is optimally suited for connecting multi-layer stainless steel bellows without clearance to aluminum hubs. Here the operation is certainly possible even in temperature ranges from -50 ° C to + 350 ° C.

As metal bellows couplings, the miniature couplings transmit high speeds without any play or maintenance. They are characterized by high torsional rigidity and low mass moment of inertia.

The compact elastomer miniature couplings are ideal for even larger shaft misalignments. They are pluggable, play-free and flexible, also have good vibration-damping behavior and are electrically insulating. This also characterizes the cross slide couplings, which, in addition to the short overall length, also offer a large displacement capacity and low restoring forces. Because the couplings can be plugged in, any combination of different bore diameters is possible.

In normal operation, the couplings are maintenance-free and when installed correctly, the JAKOB miniature couplings have an almost unlimited service life.

The shortest delivery times are guaranteed thanks to the tried-and-tested modular system and stocks of the most common diameters.

With the SKB type, JAKOB Antriebstechnik has a safety coupling generation for overload limitation or collision protection for indirect drives in its range that meets these requirements. The high user benefit of the SKB series consists of the interaction of various details. These include high release torques, a compact design, simple assembly using a clamping ring hub, high concentricity and bearing loads, and easy adjustment of the release torque.

Very high release torques can be achieved by using high-strength tempered steel with surface layer hardening or plasma coating of the functional surfaces. The particularly robust ball cage is of great importance in the case of "release impacts" at high speeds, the grease-lubricated release mechanism is additionally protected against heavy soiling or washing out by a labyrinth seal. Furthermore, the SKB series is equipped with clamping ring hubs, which allow significantly larger bore and shaft diameters than conical hubs.

Various possible combinations

If required, the SKB safety coupling can be expanded with metal bellows or elastomer coupling attachments. JAKOB offers a large selection of hub designs and compensating elements in various sizes. A sophisticated modular system enables production in cost-effective lot sizes and short delivery times.

One side is designed as a customer-specific flange or hub for the machine-side connection, the radial clamping hub of the other side facilitates easy and fast assembly (EASY-clamp) and guarantees an absolutely play-free, secure and force-transmitting transmission of the torques, even without a keyway.

The connection between bellows and hub is made by a micro-plasma welding process. This offers constructive advantages, such as the reduced overall length. The coupling is absolutely backlash free, high concentric and has maximum torsional stiffness.

The couplings are particularly suitable for use on the input side of low-backlash worm or planetary gear units. In stainless steel, they are qualified for transport, packaging and filling plants in the food industry. But also in the metallurgical industry, the galvanic industry, the vacuum sector or the area of ​​satellite technology equipment, stainless steel bellows couplings are preferably installed.
