]]> The NCP Secure Enterprise Management Server (“SEM”) is a central component for “single-point of administration” for the NCP VPN Enterprise solution. It lets businesses conveniently administer their remote-access network from a central location so that they don’t have to deal with a myriad of standalone applications. In the new 6.10 release, “SEM” administrators can make use of a representational state transfer (REST) application programming interface (API) as well as an add-on licensing option for two-factor authentication. In addition, “SEM” 6.10 can be used with the NCP VS GovNet solution approved by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).

The “SEM” Version 6.10 supports the REST API, which allows administrators to retrieve status information from the system or transmit command scripts to the “SEM”. A particular highlight is the NCP tailored Python API for “SEM” included in the package. This provides users with an efficient python interface to the “SEM”, allowing tedious work to be optimized and repetitive work to be automated via python code.

Additionally, two-factor authentication via TOTP or SMS can be added/activated as a license option in the “SEM” 6.10 for an additional fee. Depending on the desired configuration, either a time-based one-time password (TOTP) or an SMS can then be provided as second factor for VPN dial-in authentication with the NCP Secure Enterprise Management Server. A software token is necessary for the user to generate a one-time password via TOTP, which can be done via the NCP Authenticator App. This app can be downloaded free of charge and is available for smartphones and tablets in the Apple Store as well as the Google Play store. As an added security feature, the NCP Authenticator App can request biometric authentication (fingerprint or facial recognition) before granting access.

Administration of the NCP VS GovNet Connector can also be done with the “SEM” 6.10. The NCP VS GovNet Connector refers to a software client for Windows 10 approved for “classified information – for office use only” (VS-NfD) regulation according to the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). Administrators benefit from the advantages of centralized administration. The NCP VS GovNet Solution can be used to provide a fully VS-NfD workplace. This would consist of two components:

  • NCP VS GovNet Connector with BSI certification for “Classified – for official use only“, “RESTREINT UE/EU RESTRICTED“ and ”NATO RESTRICTED“ information
  • NCP Secure VPN GovNet Server with BSI certification for “Classified – for official use only”, “RESTREINT UE/EU RESTRICTED“ and ”NATO RESTRICTED“ information

Both components together are ideal for secure processing and transmission of sensitive data having the security classifications described.

Additionally, NCP Secure Enterprise Management 6.10 supersedes the NCP Exclusive Remote Access Management System. This means that NCP Exclusive Remote Access Clients tailored to Juniper SRX Gateways can now also be centrally administered with the “SEM” 6.10.

The NCP Remote Access solution (NCP Exclusive Remote Access Clients and the “SEM”) provides extensive flexibility in terms of licensing. So, in addition to a customary purchase license, the solution can also be operated with a convenient pay-per-use license. Given the circumstances created by the pandemic, customers tend to choose this version due to its flexibility.

]]> NCP, the leading specialist for fully automated, secure data communication, releases version 2.10 of the VS GovNet Connector as a "Qualified Manufacturer as defined by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI)". The release was developed under the "Qualified Approval Procedure" and is approved for VS-NfD (Classified Information – For Official Use Only), for the protection of EU information up to the classification level "RESTREINT UE/EU RESTRICTED" as well as for the protection of NATO information up to the classification level "NATO RESTRICTED". The powerful software solution is the link between the VS-NfD data processing workstation and the associated remote station (NCP Secure VPN GovNet Server). Users benefit from the wide range of functions and ease of use while enjoying maximum security. In version 2.10, the features Hotspot Login as well as Friendly Net Detection have been implemented.

When using a public hotspot, users often have to log in via a website of the hotspot operator and would have to communicate past the VPN tunnel to do so. However, this is not permitted in the public authority and mostly also in business environment. NCP’s Secure Hotspot login eliminates security concerns. When the user clicks on a hotspot he or she has selected, the VS GovNet Connector automatically establishes the connection to the corporate network, should Internet access be possible without login data. Most of the time this is not the case and the client launches a reduced-function web browser for security reasons. The client firewall will only allow this hardened browser to access the hotspot login page until the login is complete. The advantage of this procedure is that the user can now use a public hotspot in a secure way without having to change anything in the security settings.

The Friendly Net Detection (FND) feature uses an accessible Friendly Net Detection Server to detect whether the user is in a secure or insecure network. This identification is certificate-based and thus offers high security. Depending on the network, the FND function activates the corresponding firewall rules and can prevent the VPN connection setup in the secure network. This allows, for example, administrative access to the terminal device within the secure network, whereas this is not permitted in the insecure network. Unlike conventional firewalls, the VS GovNet Connector is already active at system start-up. The prerequisite for using the FND feature is the use of the NCP Friendly Net Detection Server from version 4.0.

NCP VS GovNet Connector 2.10 meets all security standards required by the BSI while remaining a very practical VPN software that is extremely easy for users to operate. It is installed on terminal devices with Windows 10 (version 1607 to 21H1) or Windows 11 (up to version 21H2). After successful authentication, all applications and resources from the central data network are available to the user via LAN, WLAN or mobile radio via Virtual Private Network (VPN). At the same time, the highly secure and sophisticated software client offers additional features such as biometric authentication, VPN Path Finder Technology, Quality of Service and more.

The purely software-based NCP VS GovNet Connector solution can be ideally distributed to the respective workstations with standard tools and works with the most modern and strongest encryption algorithms. The software is specially designed for use in ministries, public authorities and companies that are subject to the German laws on the protection of classified information. It is used for the secure processing and transmission of data classified as "VS-NfD", among others. The software client guarantees particularly easy handling without being tied to special hardware. Rollout, commissioning, software updates and administration are conveniently carried out by NCP Secure Enterprise Management (SEM) as a "single point of administration". Flexible licensing models such as "pay-per-use" cover every customer need.

NCP has introduced a new integrity service in version 2.0 which enhances the security of NCP VS GovNet Connector. The VPN client now tests security-relevant functions when it starts and regularly during operation, including checking the authenticity and integrity of the VPN software and verifying the correct execution of cryptographic algorithms and random number generators. If these tests fail, the VPN client secures the workstation and blocks further communication.

NCP VS GovNet Connector 2.0 meets all security standards required by the BSI while remaining easy to use for end users. It is installed on devices with a standard Windows 10 operating system. After successful authentication, users can access all applications and resources from the central data network via LAN, Wi-Fi or mobile data via Virtual Private Network (VPN). The client offers a maximum level of security and includes advanced features such as biometric authentication, VPN Path Finder Technology and Quality of Service.

In addition to supporting certificates or smart cards in a PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), NCP VS GovNet Connector 2.0 provides biometric authentication before the VPN connection is established, for example via fingerprint or facial recognition. The authentication process begins when users click connect in the connector UI, but the connection is not initiated until biometric authentication has been successfully completed. If the device does not have any hardware for biometric authentication or if this is not activated, the user may alternatively enter a password.

NCP’s patented VPN Path Finder Technology also enables remote access even behind firewalls which block IPsec traffic by switching to a modified IPsec protocol mode that uses the HTTPS port to establish a VPN tunnel. This offers the same security features as IPsec, which means that the VPN Path Finder protocol does not need to be re-evaluated for security reasons. The key advantage of VPN Path Finder Technology is that the administrator can reliably implement a security policy throughout the organization. Meanwhile, users continue to benefit from the same features and authentication methods as IPsec.

The Quality of Service feature reserves bandwidth for configured applications such as VoIP. Outgoing data from selected data sources on the end device can be prioritized in the VPN tunnel. For the user, this means stable VoIP communication through the VPN tunnel even with high data volumes.

]]> أصدرت شركة NCP engineering اليوم الإصدار 12.0 من برامج وجه الخصوص لجدران حماية Juniper Networks® SRX Series. وتتميز جميع البرامج الثلاثة المخصصة للعملاء بالمصادقة عن طريق المقاييس الحيوية وإمكانية التجوال السلس وتقنية Friendly Net Detection المخصصة لاكتشاف الشبكات الصديقة بالإضافة إلى تقنية VPN Path Finder التي تعمل على اكتشاف مسار شبكة VPN. في الإصدار 12.0، حسّنت شركة NCP من ميزة Home Zone وإدارة الاتصال ومعالج الدعم. كما تتضمن الميزات الجديدة للعلامة التجارية دعم تقنية التكديس المزدوج في نقل بروتوكولات IPv4/IPv6 وإدخال وحدة جودة الخدمة (QoS)، مما يضمن إمكانية حصول التطبيقات المُحددة على النطاق الترددي الصادر الذي تحتاجه في نفق شبكة VPN.

إن نقل الملفات الكبيرة وإرسال رسائل البريد الإلكتروني واستخدام خدمات VoIP (نقل الصوت عبر بروتوكول الإنترنت) عبر نفس اتصال البيانات يمكن أن يؤدي إلى استهلاك جميع النطاقات الترددية المتاحة بسرعة. ومن خلال إيلاء الأولوية للبيانات الصادرة، يضمن عميل شبكة VPN أن التطبيقات المُحددة من قبل المستخدم مثل VoIP (نقل الصوت عبر بروتوكول الإنترنت)، والتي تتطلب إدارة عالية الجودة للنطاق الترددي، يمكن أن تحافظ على اتصال خالٍ ومستقر.

 قال Patrick Oliver Graf، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة NCP engineering: "تضمن وحدة جودة الخدمة (QoS) الجديدة أن التطبيقات النشطة يمكنها الوصول إلى الحد الأقصى للنطاق الترددي الصادر المخصص لها، وأن التطبيقات غير النشطة لن تُشغِل الكثير من الموارد". 

عملت أيضًا شركة NCP على توسيع دعم بروتوكول IPv6 في برامجها المخصصة لعملاء شبكة VPN، مما يتيح استخدام بروتوكولي IPv4 وIPv6 داخل نفق شبكة VPN. ويمكن تهيئة Split tunneling (الاتصال النفقي المقسّم) بشكل منفصل لبروتوكولي IPv4 وIpv6.

 تُعد ميزة Home Zone ملفًا تعريفيًا خاصًا للمستخدم لسيناريوهات المكاتب المنزلية. فبالضغط على زر Home Zone يتم تلقائيًا تمكين قواعد جدار حماية خاصة أُعدّت مسبقًا بواسطة المسؤول ولا تُطبَّق هذه القواعد إلا أثناء اتصال الجهاز بشبكة المكتب المنزلي. وهذا يعني أن المستخدم يمكنه الوصول بسهولة إلى الأجهزة الأخرى مثل الطابعات أو الماسحات الضوئية الموجودة على شبكة مكتبه المنزلي. وعندما يغادر المستخدم شبكة Home Zone، يُعاد تنشيط قواعد جدار الحماية السابقة.

 في الإصدار 12.0، وسّعت شركة NCP هذه الميزة بخيار جديد لتعيين Home Zone مؤقتًا. ففي السابق، كان يتعرف برنامج NCP Secure Client على شبكة Home Zone تلقائيًا بعد تعيينها لمرة واحدة. وفي حالة تمكين الخيار الجديد، يتم نسيان شبكة Home Zone بعد إعادة التشغيل أو تشغيل وضع الاستعداد أو تغيير الاتصال، ويجب إعادة تمكينها مرة أخرى من قبل المستخدم.

 حسّنت شركة NCP من طريقة التعامل مع وسائط الاتصال المختلفة عن طريق إضافة خيارين جديدين إلى ميزة إدارة الاتصال لعملاء Windows وهما "تعطيل شبكة المحمول عند توصيل كابل LAN" و"تعطيل شبكة المحمول عند إنشاء اتصال Wi-Fi". الآن، بدلاً من اتصال العميل تلقائيًا بجميع شبكات البيانات المتاحة، يتمتع المستخدم بمزيد من التحكم الدقيق في وسائط الاتصال المستخدمة.

 جميع برامج NCP Windows clients المخصصة للعملاء والأحدث من الإصدار 12.0 متوافقة مع نظام التشغيل Microsoft Windows بدءًا من Windows 7 وحتى Windows 10 الإصدار 1903.

]]> NCP 엔지니어링은 오늘 iOS와 안드로이드 운영체제를 위한 NCP 독점 원격 접속 클라이언트 를 출시한다고 밝혔다. 이는 주니퍼 네트웍스의 VPN 및 방화벽용 SRX 시리즈와 완벽히 호환된다. 각 클라이언트를 통해 iOS와 안드로이드 기기에서 기업의 자료에 암호화된 VPN 접근이 가능하다. iOS와 안드로이드 운영 체제 하에서 원격 데스크탑 클라이언트, 이메일 클라이언트 등의 비즈니스에 중요한 모든 애플리케이션이 높은 보안성을 지닌 기업 네트워크에 접속 가능해지는 이점이 있다.

NCP 독점 원격 접속 클라이언트를 사용하는 태블릿이나 스마트폰과 같은 무선 단말기는 SEM(NPC 보안 기업 관리)을 통해 중앙에서 관리할 수 있다.또한 SEM은 iOS와 안드로이드 기반 VPN 클라이언트를 모두 효율적으로 관리할 수 있다. 관리자는 사용자에 대한 개입 없이 인증서를 배포하거나 환경설정을 할 수 있으며 이는 조직 관리와 보안 측면 모두에 있어 매우 중요한 장점이라 할 수 있다. 사용자는 iOS나 안드로이드 VPN 클라이언트에서 별도의 VPN 프로필을 사용하여 여러 네트워크에 연결할 수도 있다. iOS와 안드로이드 클라이언트는 이중인증을 사용할 때 시도-응답 인증방식 또한 지원한다.
